Side of Taco: Norman’s Happy Ending

I was prepared to write a whole post about the foods we use to show our love for each other in times of loss and mourning but I have breaking news and the happiest news at that! This morning, as I was washing my breakfast dishes, I received a call from a woman who tearfully said, “I think you found our cat?”

Norman has a family who loves him and misses him. He has been with them for 15 years and has human, canine, and feline siblings who have been worried about him for over a month! His real name is Orange and he is loved. Luckily, a friend of his family’s came across on of my fliers!

I have to give a huge thanks to my boyfriend, Ben, who found Orange and helped me bring him to safety, who welcomed Orange into our home, and who took a day off from his VERY demanding job to drive us to the Humane Society for his vet care. Ben is a real hero and his care towards a scraggly, scared, and pitiful kitty made this happy ending possible.

I want to thank Ben’s cousin, Gabrielle, an accomplished cat-mom in her own right, who was going to start the process of introducing Orange to her cat, Roswell, tonight in the hopes of adopting Orange.

Thanks to the Humane Society of New York, for providing quality, affordable veterinary care and making sure that healthy pets and fosters are a possibility for more New Yorkers.

And last, but not least, a thousand thanks to Empty Cages Collective, for helping me through the process of getting Orange to an adoptable state. Luckily, Orange does not need a forever home because he already has one, but they find families for thousands of animals, including Taco, and support animal foster families.

If you have been touched by Norman’s Orange’s story, please donate to Empty Cages Collective here.
